Payment Information

Subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not directly collect or store your credit card information. Payment details are handled entirely by these platforms according to their privacy policies.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

Contractual Necessity — Art. 6(1)(b)

Processing necessary to perform our contract with you (providing the OnPlane service):

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the OnPlane service
  • Analyze your golf swing videos and generate personalized coaching feedback
  • Generate voice coaching narration tailored to your selected coach persona
  • Create and adapt personalized practice plans based on your patterns
  • Calculate session grades and track your progress over time
  • Enable Delta Mode comparisons to show what changed between swings
  • Respond to your support requests and inquiries

Legitimate Interest — Art. 6(1)(f)

Processing necessary for our legitimate business interests, balanced against your rights:

  • Send important account notifications (e.g., subscription updates, security alerts)
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues
  • Analyze product usage via PostHog to understand how users interact with OnPlane and improve the service (you can opt out via in-app privacy settings)

Legal Obligation — Art. 6(1)(c)

Processing necessary to comply with laws that apply to us:

  • Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax records, lawful data disclosure requests)

Consent — Art. 6(1)(a)

Processing based on your explicit, freely given consent (which you can withdraw at any time):

  • Marketing communications (if you opt in)
  • Contributing anonymized data to help improve our AI models (future, voluntary — see Section 4)

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your videos for advertising purposes.

4. AI & Voice Coaching

OnPlane uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze your golf swing and provide coaching feedback. This section explains how these technologies work with your data.

Swing Analysis

Our AI processes your videos to:

  • Detect your body position and movement patterns
  • Identify key swing phases and transitions
  • Measure tempo, rotation, head stability, and other mechanics
  • Compare your technique against established fundamentals
  • Generate specific, actionable feedback

Voice Coaching

OnPlane generates AI voice coaching that narrates your session recaps and swing breakdowns. The voice coaching:

  • Is generated using AI text-to-speech technology
  • Adapts its delivery style based on your selected coach persona
  • Controls video playback to pause at key frames during explanations
  • Does not record or process your voice—it only generates audio output

Coach Personas

You can choose from five coaching styles: Classic Pro, Encouraging, Direct, Technical, or Motivational. Your persona selection is stored to personalize your experience. The underlying analysis is the same—only the communication style changes.

How Your Data Is Used for AI

Your videos and session data are processed by our AI systems to provide you with personalized coaching. By default, your data is only used to generate your personal analysis—it is not used to train or improve our AI models.

In the future, we may offer an optional program where you can contribute anonymized data to help improve our technology. Participation would always be voluntary and require your explicit consent.

Human Review

In rare cases, our team may review video content or coaching outputs to investigate technical issues, improve accuracy, or respond to support requests. We treat all such content as confidential.

5. Data Sharing

We share your information only in limited circumstances:

Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party providers who help us operate OnPlane, including:

  • Cloud hosting and storage providers
  • AI/ML processing services for swing analysis
  • Text-to-speech services for voice coaching generation
  • Customer support tools

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use it to provide services on our behalf.

We share data with these providers under contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)) — they act as data processors on our behalf under data processing agreements that require them to protect your data and limit its use.

Analytics — PostHog

We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how users interact with OnPlane and to improve the experience. PostHog collects:

  • Usage data such as screen views, feature interactions, and navigation patterns
  • Device and app metadata (device type, OS version, app version)
  • Session replay recordings with sensitive screens masked
  • Performance metrics and crash reports

PostHog does not collect or have access to your swing videos, coaching content, or personal account information (such as email or name).

We process analytics data under legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) to understand how users interact with OnPlane and improve the product. You can opt out at any time through the in-app privacy settings, which serves as the balancing mechanism for this interest.

EU data residency: Your analytics data is processed and stored on PostHog's European Union infrastructure (eu.i.posthog.com) to support data protection compliance.

Session replay: PostHog may record session replays that capture how you navigate and interact with the app. Sensitive screens — including account settings, payment flows, and any screens displaying personal information — are automatically masked and excluded from recordings.

Opt-out: You can disable analytics collection at any time through the privacy settings toggle in the OnPlane app. When disabled, no usage data or session replays will be sent to PostHog.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others. This sharing is based on legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) or, where applicable, our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in protecting our rights and the safety of others.

Business Transfers

If OnPlane is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have. This processing is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in conducting business operations including potential mergers, acquisitions, or reorganizations.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services to you. Specifically:

  • Account data: Retained until you delete your account
  • Videos: Retained until you delete them or delete your account
  • Session history & progress data: Retained until you delete your account
  • Coaching preferences: Retained until you change them or delete your account
  • Usage analytics (PostHog): Retained for 1 year, then automatically deleted from PostHog's EU servers
  • Support communications: Retained for up to 2 years after resolution

When you delete your account, we will delete your personal data, videos, and session history within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal or compliance purposes.

  • Right to object (Art. 21): You may object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). This includes analytics and product improvement. We will stop processing unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds. To object to analytics specifically, use the privacy settings toggle in the app.
  • Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)): Where processing is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

8. Security

We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Secure password hashing using industry-standard algorithms
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Access controls limiting employee access to user data
  • Secure cloud infrastructure with reputable providers
  • Video content stored in isolated, encrypted storage
